I read most blog
sites lists provided in the class. They vary in many ways, such as layout,
content, even the domain label. Some of them are nonprofit organizations, like http://www.evenfromhere.org/; some are commercial
organizations, such as http://www.21stcenturycollaborative.com/,
http://heyjude.wordpress.com/. No
matter what type, I believe they all have their strengths and weaknesses.
I think the blog
site http://practicaltheory.org/blog/
has simple design but a lot of its articles can really enrich my brain about
teaching. And it classifies its content into different categories, such as
Ed-Admin, Ed-Tech, Podcast, School 2.0 and so on, thus I can find the subject I
want to read with ease. But it does lack visual attraction. As a lot of
viewers are visual persons, if the blogs could not draw the attentions from the
viewers immediately, they might just switch to something else. Therefore good
design is very important to attract viewers. I think another blog site http://travelinedman.blogspot.com/
does not have enough visual attraction either. It is full of different blog
posts but barely any image or video. As one of its visitor, I am intimidated to
read its post, just because it is so much stress on my eyes.
Among those blog sites I like http://www.downes.ca/.
It has nice overview and a lot of nice pictures, and I can even listen to the
radio while I view through different posts, plus the author offers free eBooks
that I can download into my computer for the future use. In addition, I particularly like how blog site
http://willrichardson.com/ lay out its
archives. When I click the Archives, I can view all the posts in the past with
the titles and the beginning of the articles. In this way, it can quickly help
me find the post I want to read.
Since different blog sites focuses are different, viewing different blog
sites can help me broaden my mind and gain more different viewpoints thus
facilitate me understand the different concepts or topics related to the
education.
